Overall Experience

I felt that when with the digital body, trying to improvise next to it was very difficult, this was the case in some instances when the body was moving too quickly it was difficult to distribute myself appropriately according to the screen without ruining the interactivity. Creating was naturally a lot easier to work with as we were able to rewatch points of the video and use that to make works that influenced or worked with the digital performance.
what you would use if you was to create an interactive piece
I felt that all but augmenting expression were necessary principles with this style of work. I dont think needing to create a story in relation to the digital self seemed suitable in this work however creating a relationship is just a principle of dance in general, Be it a relationship with another dancer or with an audience. If I was to create an interactive piece I would definitely use the idea of shadow interacting with the digital self as with some work put into it that could create something very effective.

Augmented Expression

This principle to me was the most challenging, trying to express a relationship or story based of the movement which my digital self was performing seemed impossible to begin with. However, with practice and once I had found myself with an idea to work from it became less challenging. When trying to create work based with two virtual bodies and then my physical body, I found this incredibly challenging. Due to my height and the length of my limbs trying to create with two bodies moving very differently to each other it was hard to correlate with which body to perform with.

Interactive Build

I thought that this principle was challenging, when we started with this principle I didnt quite grasp what this idea included, but after attempting it through improvisation and then moving onto creating work it seemed to make a little more sense, but not as much. I think it was quite difficult to create a build/climax with through interaction with my digital self not because of the digital aspect but because of the digital double was performing an improvisation which in my experience tends not to climax.  When it came down to it, I think that working with the slower projection seemed easier to build upon than the fast, as with the fast by the time you had built upon a sequence, it had moved onto the next section and what I had just worked on last all its intensity.

Aesthetic Harmony

I thought this principle was quite interesting, being able to work with my digital self to create something that looked aesthetically pleasing was enjoyable and fun.
I thought using my shadow as the performer rather than my physical body worked  quite well in embodying something that with a lot more time and polishing could become effective to an audience. When working with the my physical body it was really difficult to try and keep what I was doing in tune with the performing bodies, at times it felt as if I was apart of a trio and I was a count behind. However if I was able to take myself out of the equation and it was just my shadow and the digital double performing then it had the potential to look nice.
I felt that with these videos the speed actually helped with the creative process if anything, because the movement was so fast paced and there was a lot going on, this meant that there was a lot more to work with.

1st principle – connected kinetics

I found this weeks tasks quite difficult, We had too perform beside our digital double which was being projected onto the wall. I found this quite difficult because the projected version of myself was very unpredictable to perform against. I felt that this was difficult because we had to control the projection and that was rather a challenge the projection was 2D and erratic.

Once we were able to stop and start the recordings and create with the piece, rather than against it, the entire scenario became a lot easier. However, once we were told that we had to use other body parts than our hands, creatively this became really interesting but phsycially it was very challenging.
